Create Your Own Magic

Create Your Own Magic

Autumn is the most enchanted time of the year
Spirit Car, the mystery and magic of the world flies with the Full Hunter’s Moon

Create Your own magic this Autumn to fully live every day. The Fall captures all our senses in wondrous ways. The crisp leaves rustling on the pavement, the colors transforming the earth from luscious green to gold, red, and orange, and the brilliant leaves drifting like fairies in the breeze, combine to make a wonderland, ripe with magic.

Spirit Cat is the totem familiar of Autumn. She rides the full moon across the sky, spreading magic wherever she goes. The Night is her kingdom, the Dark her secret place to dream of future adventures. She sees dimensions far beyond our own. Plus, her attention is deep, focused on another world of life, beauty, and happenings.

I love the sound and feel of walking through the fallen leaves. The musky smell of the woods, the scent of smoke and crackling fires fills the air, taking me back to a simpler time. As a kid, each sense was alive to the shifting in the air, the golden tones of dawn, and the reds of sunset, as night came earlier each day. In addition, bundling up in scarves and sweaters brings a memory of cozy, quiet evenings drawing, reading, and playing games.

The good thing is that the cooler nights bring forth millions of stars and mostly clearer nights. Also, the Moon is the goddess of the ink black sky. Jack-o-lanterns appear everywhere, along with taffy apples, candles, and pumpkins. Big pots of homemade soup warm the soul and body.

Create your own magic, filling it with ghost stories.

Through every culture in every time, now it the memory time for all those we have loved and lost. Many families make pilgrimages to the resting places of friends and relatives.

While teaching, this was the time to create alters and shrines for Day of the Dead. We’d clear a counter in the front of the room and create art projects about our loved ones. Their spirits, human and animal, are always there when they are remembered, enjoying the good times, and sharing in the laughter.

However, there were also skeletons and sugar skulls. Death is a part of Life, and should remind us to live each day to the fullest. Furthermore, this is a day in our lives and we must remember that just to breath in another morning, is a gift.

Let Spirit Cat be our guide through the world of mystery. Face the unknown with the happiness of experiencing another day of color, scents, beauty, and life. Look for the deeper meanings, feelings, and insights of a life well lived. As a result, be content with all you have, and yet be detached, like cat, since these are things of the world. Our True Home is in the land of Spirit. It’s where we came from, and some day will return. Seek the Moon and dream of future adventures. Let’s immerse our senses in this Autumn of life.
