My Art Reflects My Life
An ad appeared in the mail that I was immediately drawn to. For one of the last images to paint in Pauline Agnew’s wonderful online painting class, more info here, we could choose from some great Pinterest images she had assembled, or another Old Master’s painting, or our pets, but this image really moved me.
Since 1992, I’d ask myself “Where am I now in this moment of time?” My mixed media paintings back then, always reflected my life in the moment. This gave meaning to me, helped me explore in color/symbols/line, how I was feeling, the direction I was going, and what was happening in my inner landscape. Now I found myself asking the question again.
This image says it all. Something has changed within the last week! I want to return to my own meaningful art. I also want to create an entirely new way to teach this approach to others. A reflection of life becomes the work of art. Mixed media has always opened doors for me to find texture, layers, and colors impacting me in the Now. It’s immediate, can be worked, blended, wiped out, or reworked. My use of the brush, pastel, or pencil has it’s own personal signature. I have it, and so do you. It’s a flow your hand makes, a movement of your body, how your view life. It’s your personal mark. Creating art in this way is immediate, thoughtful without being obsessive, and implements every part of your consciousness. Your body remembers line, shapes, colors, and moves you have loved in the past and recreates them now.
A Shift is happening, and I’m excited to discover what it will reveal over the days ahead. A new approach, truly coming from my inner path, will hopefully emerge that I can share with everyone. Art unites us on a deep, consciousness level to live the Creative Life. Our inner Creator Self is our own personal Magician to creating new magic in the world. Stay tuned for more to come!
