Art Reflects Life, Magic is in the Air
Art reflects life and grounds us in the Now. Especially these days, as we become aware of the Black Moon, the 13th Moon in the Lunar Calendar. As a result, we have 2 New Moons grace the heavens this month. It’s like a pause in time. A second chance to reflect, gather our energies, and regroup for the coming days.
The wildflower healing herb Yarrow is everywhere, too. For centuries, this is the herb every warrior would carry in his pack to stanch the flow of blood. It’s said its liquid coats a wound like a protective band aid. In addition, with its fern-like leaves and white or pink disk flowers, it exudes a strong sweet scent.
Birds build nests of it, while insects eat it. Also, healing everything from allergies to intestinal problems, its healing properties are known throughout North America, Asia, and Europe.
I see these plants covering the forest floor, as dragonflies skim the tops of the blooms and grass. As well as being iridescent green and blue, they seem to be as curious about me as I am about them. Flashes of light, especially in the morning, they zigzag over the flowers and railing.
Art reflects life as mindfulness sets in, and these elements become the focus of the painting. In addition, all the objects of the land, sky, and creatures interact just as they do in nature. So in summary, all you have to do is look around with fresh eyes.
The World is full of Magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow and sharpen. W B Yeats
