July Full Moon, with a Jupiter-Venus conjunction, Spectacular!
I don’t follow day to day astrology, but I DO follow the Sky!! Every clear night finds me looking for the Moon, identifying planets and constellations, and comparing to my ipad Sky Guide. When we’re really lucky, we have the Milky Way flowing right over our house.
So interesting to have an additional sensation with a pack of coyotes howling over the last 4 nights! The first evening, they were Really Close! We couldn’t see them for all the dense wild forest, but they were clearing the neighborhood of all other creatures with their howls, yips, and calls.
Rain has been pouring many nights lately, with stars peeking through fast moving clouds. This morning loud cannons of thunder and lightening exploded right outside our bedroom window at 5 am. Even so, I’m determined to see Jupiter appearing right next to, nearly touching Venus, from our point of view. The two most spectacular planets in our sky, seemingly together, have got to be a glorious sight! They are right in the paws of the great constellation Leo, which I’m sure, is loaded with power, meaning, and portents for the days to come. But they are low in the West by the time our Sun sets in these long days of summer, and a challenge to see for us in the ridge valley. We have to find a hilltop for better viewing to catch this one.
The Night Sky is like a mini spiritual retreat harkening back to our ancestors, who measured life, love, planting, harvesting, and growing by the movement of the stars, phases of the Moon, and the Sun’s return to warm the land. Looking up, evaluating our personal point of view in the celestial magnificence, pulls us out of ‘autopilot’. It’s a Wake Up call to discover a deeper significance to life, right outside your window.
