Jeweled Nests are a Portal to rebirth every day. You’re building jeweled nests or messy whatever nests every day, whether you know it or not. Just like the New Moon, each day has the power to become a new beginning filled with adventure, interest, and growth.

First of all, nests are your foundation for your body, heart, and soul. They become the basis of how you approach the day. Often, you make your happiness or depression by where you place your focus. Do you begin with nature or news, noisy chatter or songs of birds, eating fruit or a breakfast burrito? Each of these things become the flowered twig or the crumpled debris forming the shape of the day. Wise choices find you in flow, not drag.

Secondly, the time of nesting reminds us to enlist all the senses. It’s as though you are writing the book of all the passions in your life, and this is the first page. Let feeling lead you to what you’d love to do right in this moment.

If it’s the beach and you live miles away, surround yourself with magazines, beach vacation photos, and seashells or driftwood to bring back the memories flowing in like the tide. Find things you can touch, or a scented candle to smell, or even some tasty morsel you’d only let yourself have on a holiday.

The aroma of gasoline always brings back my Uncle’s motor boat in Michigan. Growing up, it was the only time I was allowed to have orange soda and chips. Family vacations were by the water, sailing, flopping in waves, gathering seashells, playing in the sand, and walking the beach.

These are my retreat as I gaze out at the forest today. I live in beauty, but there are also ticks, bears, and bobcats. It’s different than my wild, carefree days as a kid without a worry in the world. Return to your memories with fresh eyes and be filled with the freedom it brings.

Thirdly, fill your nest with happiness, beauty, and curiosity. There’s always more to try, to learn, to experience, and to discover, but you have to take the first step out the door. It could be to just roam around your neighborhood without a destination in mind, or diving into some ‘hands on’ creativity that you’ve never done before. Mastering anything new, or even losing yourself in a ‘can’t put it down’ novel, takes you to new worlds, new thoughts, and new feelings.

So today, make a promise to yourself to feather your nest with wonderful happy memories. Be aware of all your choices. What you do today, can be the basis for all the days to come. Start with how you feel, and then express them in art or writing. Often this generates a stream of consciousness that takes you to an interesting new place.
