Listening to your Art Makes Doing Easy

Listening to your art only happens when you are engaged in doing it. It’s just like people, interaction with others, shared ideas, and supporting friends uplift and carry you forward. Encouragement, input, questions and dialogue go a long way to enriching any experience.

Also, the longer we put things off, the harder it is to get back to doing them. We lose confidence, skills can be lost, and motivation disappears. Not very good for a flowing creative body.

First of all, the key to easy art is to stop thinking about it and start doing it. You don’t need to know what the end result will be. As you make art, your attention goes to the brushstrokes, colors mixed together, and how you want it to look. The old obsessions melt away to the process of creating. Art grounds you in the present moment. It’s a comfortable place to be.

Secondly, listening to your art allows it to turn out totally differently than you thought. Art has a voice. Ask it what it needs. Allow intuition to guide the process. Be aware of how you’re drawn to certain shapes, colors, and techniques that feel pleasing.

Third, art becomes easy when you don’t obsess over the outcome. So, the struggles and challenges are smoke and shadows that disappear in the creative process. The reality of doing ends up coming together surprisingly easily. It’s as though you slip into another world where the body takes over and everything flows.

Doing Art in this unplanned way, is like life. We don’t know ahead of time how it will turn out. Sometimes it’s easy to allow it to unfold. This journey we’re on can be effortless when you don’t know the outcome of things.

We enter with curiosity and let it develop as we make our choices, and next new choices, all along the way. Then, Life and art fill us with wonder and Magic as we just keep moving forward on the journey. As a result, experiencing life, art, and joy are all that matters.
