My ‘Journey’ ART
When I sold my mixed media paintings back in Chicago, each one had a ‘story’, my story, printed/framed that came with the original or print. My people would often come to my booth to read the latest stories about my life. The animals, the symbols, were all metaphors for my journey at that moment of time. They could relate.
Some asked if I’m ‘processing’, the buzz word at that time, every day. To me it wasn’t an effort the word ‘processing’ seems to infer. I’d begin by looking at my life, and the art would follow. It became an effortless way of living, of recording, of creating a visual diary. This is what I hope to teach in my classes throughout the year. The classes follow the cycles of the Earth, the solstices, equinoxes, the ancient rituals people have honored from tribe to civilizations. It’s a natural way to live.
