Moon Stories: Goddesses, Elements, Ancestors
Moon Stories of the Goddess, Grandmother Moon, and the Elements of Nature, begin each Journey Class. These tales of ancient times carry us off to lands of sacred wells, magic portals, and hidden grottoes. Furthermore, the Ancient Tales tell of renewal, healing, and prophecy.
Winter Earth is all about gifts from Brigit, the Goddess of the Cold Moon. First of all, Brigit is the Creative Womb of the Mother, the Portal of the Cave, the opening to the waters. In addition, Hers is the gift of renewal, rebirth, and remembrance. Her sacred wells are mirrors to the land of Spirit.
A Winter’s Tale
Therefore, I can imagine the procession of Priestesses, wearing the Crescent Moon on their third eye, leading the way under the stone arch. Next, A holy Path through the lofty oak forest would lead to the Standing Stone from another era. Then a grotto clearing would open to stone steps leading down to the subterranean spring, the Source of Brigit’s magic. While Seers gaze into the depths, they seek guidance for the clan and crops. I find these connections to the Goddesses, to Grandmother Moon, and their tales, enrich my gray winter days.
Secondly, Writing Moon Stories to begin each monthly class, brings me deeper into the feelings of moment. Therefore, I look for tools to feel grounded, centered, and whole. The element of North, Winter Earth Medicine tells of being present in our bodies. What self care practice can I add to my life? Ancient rituals remind me to renew my body in the sacred waters, bath salts, and scented candles. The Ancestors looked to the Senses to go deeper, listen for answers, and find direction in life.
Also, Moon Stories are tales of Animals, with a capital A. They are the overall soul of each particular creature that carry the wisdom, medicine, and teachings. For example, I learn of Tortoise who always carries her home wherever she goes. Another trait She is known for is her fertility of laying many eggs, stability to hold her ground, and longevity since she outlives many Trees. Her shell protects through all disasters, and carries her from land to sea.
As a result, with each story I expand my knowledge and share the magic. Feeling the recurring cycles of Earth, I enter winter seeking inner silence, nourishing foods, and creative immersion. For me, these connections to the Moon Stories refresh my spirit and inspire my soul.
I honor my teachers Maia Toll and The Sacred Science for inspiration about Element Earth. Find more Moon Stories with each Mystery School of Art Class offered at each New Moon. Join us today!
