Navigating the Sea of Life

Navigating the Sea of Life

navigating the sea of life
The Shore, I wanted to do a Contrast Painting, but discovered it’s the Sea Adventure of Life

Navigating the Sea of Life, I stand grounded on The Shore, gazing out across the Unknown. The surface movement is the result of deep energies, currents, and power, bringing ebb and flow into my life. In the distance, clouds rise, almost as a Cave of Light, an unending destination leading to more adventures over the expanse of Time and Space.

This is life today. I was compelled to do The Shore, thinking it was about contrast and values. But in truth, this painting revealed the passage written above, as I asked and listened.

Plus, everything you paint, photograph, or write, reveals a much deeper personal truth that will surprise you. You learn things about yourself that you didn’t know before.

Navigating the Sea of Life carries us through rough rocky times when we don’t have a clue what to do next, like today. There’s only so much power we have on the surface. This is a season of ebbing for many of us. A resting time to pull ourselves together, like the Monarch butterfly settling on our flowers for the night before continuing on her migration south.

During this pause in the world, try releasing what no longer works, and instead, experiment with rediscovering who you are today. This new time asks us to face New Truths. See this as a prep time for the New World that will be created right before your eyes. This not a thinking time, but a doing time, allowing the art to reveal its hidden truths about you. Keep busy doing little things, creative treasures, until the Big Ones arrive, without a doubt, as being your next right thing.

One way to dive deep and make this time meaningful is by trusting your intuition and doing art. Art always makes your invisible subconscious self, Visible. For example, try making one of the 8 composition styles you can find over at Pat Gullett Designs. Or experiment with Art Elements like I did with contrast and values. You can never predict what hidden truth will be revealed in all art you create, photograph, or write.

Art answers the questions: Who am I?, Where am I going?, and Why am I here? This is where the Magic lies!

Create what you think your art is about, then ask it what deeper truths lie here. Write your questions and answers in an art journal. You will be amazed what is unearthed when you create a sanctuary to ask, listen, and write. Enter the great Mysterium of hidden truths, art messages, and new journeys. Life has always been an unknowable force. And the next cycle is just around the corner.

Tell me what you think of this time and how you keep yourself going in a positive direction! Did you get surprising answers to questions from your art? I’d love to hear from you!
