Allow your Passion to be your Guiding Force throughout the day!
Each day, I make time for Play. Creative Play. Daydreaming time touched by some insight that seems to float into my awareness. When I listen to what I’m inspired to do, it’s touched with passion, originality, and the inner creative force. If I sat at the bench and just tried to create jewelry, I’d end up ‘thinking’ it through, and that isn’t the path to true creativity. Last Saturday, I saw my neck rings and felt they needed a change. I sawed, twisted and played, coming up with a twisted torque, as I call it. Another piece needed re-purposing for the new torque and voila, something I could never have come up with any other way, the Goddess Touchstone Medallion. I know it’s power when I must make one for myself and one to sell.
The same works for painting. If I just stood at the easel and plopped on color, I wouldn’t end up with something I loved. The paintings seem to dwell within me for a few days, until they’re ready to be birthed. I know the mid-summer full moon is next on the easel. It drifts through almost as though I’m remembering parts of a dream. Then I just have to paint!
I’ve really developed this ‘listening to what moves me’ approach while creating the new Wabi Sabi Art video classes. This spiritual concept is all about savoring the moment, listening deeply, and immersing into the act of doing. This has become my third passion. As I’m twisting wire, or painting the hills, new ideas for video projects, step by step hands on techniques that are simple but effective come to me like a light bulb going off. I have my notebook always available to write down ideas before they flit away. One creative act opens the door to another.
I guess my 4th passion would be this blog, where you can follow my path. But for me, it’s become my diary, keeping me on track, immersed, and creative.
