Your Art Style is Your Personal Signature
Your Art Style is everything! It appears in all you do. Discovering it is a life pursuit since it evolves as you do. At first, begin with the Basics- composition, center of interest, positive/negative shapes, movement, and color harmony. These elements are intrinsic and the more you do them, the more they become part of your intuition toolbox.
I remember every art class at U of I was 3 hrs long, 3 times a week! Plus, the body learns by repetition of the basics in drawing, painting, design, mechanical drawing, jewelry, printmaking, and ceramics. Therefore, these are techniques, learned skills to develop over time.
Meanwhile, as I practiced and experimented, developing my skills, I became aware of my choices. What subject matter moved me? How did my body move with each media? Similarly, what was my personal mark?
Your art Style is your personal Voice, unlike any other. As a result, doing your thing is what fills you with authentic, pure, original, ‘lose track of time’ moments. In addition, scientists call this Creative Flow an altered state of being. Plus, in Mindfulness, brain connects in a visual, holistic, universal consciousness way. Moreover, this is the land of intuition, inner journey, and inspiration.
In conclusion, your art style redefines skills and success. It’s not about being technically perfect, copying another’s ‘look’, or meeting some else’s label of ‘good, great, or masterpiece’. Your skill is your Magic to express your personal thoughts, ideas, and feelings. Then you LOVE your art. Plus, You’ll love everything you do! Therefore, it’s a piece of You, the True You that lives within. How wonderful is that?!
